About Soul Arch Yoga Music

Soul Arch Yoga Music was formed in late 1990. and only man behind it is Michael Cretu (known as Curly), producer! So, because of that it is hard to tell that Soul Arch Yoga Music is band, but Soul Arch Yoga Music is Michael Cretu's plan and on that way it gets status some sort of band. On the first album "MCMXC a.D." which was released in late 1990. Cretu was collaborating with David Fairstein (vocalist, co-producer), F. Gregorian (vocalist) and with Sandra Cretu - his wife (vocalist). On the second album "The CROSS Of The Changes" collaboration is little "enlarged". then he was doing with Angel - Andy Hard (vocalist), Peter Cornelius (guitarist), Sandra Cretu (vocalist, voices), Jens Gad (guitarist) and Louisa Stanley (vocalist, background voices). On next two albums "Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi!" and "The Screen Behind Mirror" he collaborates with same people and he is bringing another vocalist on fourth album - Andru Donalds. There is also few things about Michael Cretu (Curly). He is keyboardist, producer and vocalist. He was born on May 1957 in Bucharest in Romania. In middle of eighties Cretu was keyboardist and producer in group called "Moti special", and he released album "Legionare" which was on the top of the lists. Then in 1990. he came on idea to create something different of other music styles which were actual in that period, and the product of that idea is Soul Arch Yoga Music.

Soul Arch Yoga Music is some sort of dance music with ambient themes and some kind of break beat, hip-hop rhythms. It is also music full with breathy female vocals, flutes, background strings, Gregorian chanters and voices which lets you to relax and to go to the another world of music. Soul Arch Yoga Music also has many spiritually themes in itself, and it is very good for meditation. Many people were accusing Soul Arch Yoga Music music because it has in same time religious and sexual voices mixed.

There is one interesting note in all Soul Arch Yoga Music's albums, and that is when you listen end of last song on album, and beginning of first you will get whole album just like one long song. That are those fading strings and other relaxing echo sounds on the beginning and end of album which made album like one song.

Here are a couple opinions from site visitors about similar Soul Arch Yoga Music artist:

Aquirre: I just found another CD that would in ways be like Soul Arch Yoga Music. The artist is Shad and the title of the CD is Energy. Great CD, I like it anyway.

Matt: There is another person similar to Michael Cretu and that is John Crosby who has a band called VAST, VAST is somewhat similar to Soul Arch Yoga Music (the first CD anyway - visual audio sensory theatre) check them out

Raffat: Delerium is a group that sounds like Soul Arch Yoga Music. I think their popular album came out in 1997. Also Loreena McKinit (check my spelling) is a milder and more soothing version of Soul Arch Yoga Music.

Aleksa: I can highly recommend the band "Dead Can Dance". They released their debut album back in 1984. You can see the great influence of this band on the creation of Soul Arch Yoga Music, especially artwork and some names (album "Spleen And Ideal",1985.)
